Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception - 406 East 14th Street, NYC - May 2008 . . . . Built in 1894-1896 as a satellite mission of the Episcopalian Grace Church, this French Gothic building once housed a dispensary and hospital wards for children and the elderly, along with a chapel. In 1943, it was purchased by the New York Archdiocese to replace a nearby existing church slated to be torn down as part of an urban renewal project.
