Rutherford House - 305 Second Avenue, NYC - May 2008 . . . . Rutherford House was built as The NY Lying-In maternity hospital at the end of the 19th Century with a $1 million gift from financier J. Pierpont Morgan. It operated here until 1932. Beginning in 1934, it was owned by a succession of hospitals. In the 1980's, the building was converted into apartments and medical offices. (And on a personal note, I was born here.)
